The award for the best film on the category "Biodiversity" is associated to the name of the English naturalist Charles Darwin. Travelling through exotic places, Darwin created the theory of species. With the Charles Darwin Award for best film on Biodiversity worldwide, the ART&TUR Festival promotes the idea of protection of biodiversity and the preservation of wild world. Aristides de Sousa Mendes (a Portuguese consul that rescued 30 thousand people from Holocaust during the II World War) is the name given to the award for best film on the category "Human Life. This is a clear demonstration that the festival is unquestionably committed to the values of human life. In addition, the ART&TUR Festival promotes the young talents. The best film in this category has the name of the Jules Verne, because it is a classical author associated to the imaginary of youth and adventure travel. Finally, in cooperation with the Portuguese Association for Accessible Tourism, the ART&TUR Festival became the unique festival of the world that supports the accessible tourism. The best film worldwide on this new category will be awarded with the Prize of the Rotary International. Therefore, with all these options, the ART&TUR Festival promotes the essential values of humanity, and shows his commitment with the politics of social responsibility. In fact, art and tourism are not neutral activities; they embody the ethical values, even if implicitly. So, promoting and supporting some special thematic categories of films, the ART&TUR Festival brings to the fore an awareness of Ethics and Social Responsibility in Tourism and the Arts, hence its binding conscious important causes and values.
